PROSPECTS TAKE ON FLOWER PLANTERS

The Rishton Prospects panel have come forward to Hyndburn Borough Council to ask if they can take over the planting of the bedding planters around the village. Council cutbacks have led to a reduction in floral displays all over the borough and the group have asked to step in to keep Rishton's flowers.

Cabinet member for Parks and Open Spaces, Cllr Ken Moss, said, "We're facing very tough times and having to make very painful decisions but in Rishton at least the blow has been cushioned by our Prospects panel. They're a small team of volunteers who look after the green areas in their spare time and we're very grateful to them for being so proactive."

The Prospects team have built up a good working relationship with Nuture (formerly Park View Nurseries) and receive many free flowers and bedding plants for use around Rishton each year.
