Following the cutbacks which led to the Christmas trees over the shops being cancelled in 2014, a group of Rishton residents have formed a group to raise funds and pay for decorations themselves. Several meetings have taken place to set up the basis of the group and a name and a logo have now been settled on.
Switch On Rishton will be officially constituted with an elected committee and a Post Office account on Wednesday May 13th at 6.00pm in The Roebuck Inn and any interested residents are welcome to come along.
The interim positions are as follows and up for official nomination at the AGM:
- Nick Hayward - Chair
- Craig Brasenell - Treasurer
- Elaine Williamson - Secretary
Letters will be sent to all Rishton businesses asking if they would be willing to keep a collection tub for customers to make donations. These will be provided by Rishton Area Council and the Co-op on Harwood Road has already agreed to keep one on the counter from September as part of their annual charity pot rotation.
A Facebook group has now been set up and can be found here:
PLEASE NOTE: A test Facebook page was set up but due to operational issues this was never intended by the committee to be the final version so please click on the link above for all official statements.
Well done
