As a result of the Area Council agreeing to part fund a defibrillator in Rishton, John Mallalieu of the Rotary Club has arranged for a training session on how to use a defibrillator to take place on Monday 14th April from 7.00pm until 9.00pm at The People's Centre. The session is open to volunteers in Rishton and will also include first aid training which will be valid for 12 months. Representatives from Rishton Area Council will be present for the training.
The Rishton Councillors were approached by the local Rotary Club for funding after they offered £1,000 towards the cost of a Rishton defibrillator. The remaining £704 was allocated at the last Area Council meeting in March and the defibrillator is set to be installed at the Library.
The machine will be mounted in a strongbox with a passcode that will be known to various authorities and this will be changed regularly. The box will also be in sight of the CCTV camera following concerns over vandalism.
