The bollard at the junction of Harwood Road and Hartington Street was subjected to vandalism by two pupils from Norden High School recently and pictures were taken by a resident who then forwarded the images to the Rishton Councillors.
The matter was taken up by Headteacher Tim Mitchell and the local police on behalf of Lancashire County Council and visits were made to the home addresses of the pupils involved. The respective parents were said to have been shocked by the images and written apologies to the Council were received shortly afterwards from the youths.
An engineer stated that no lasting damage has been done to the bollard.
