FUNDING SECURED TO TACKLE ROGUE LANDLORDS

In the last few days, the Government has announced that funding is being made available to Council’s nationally to tackle rogue landlords.

Hyndburn Council has been successful in attracting £112,500 of extra funding which will enable the Council to take further action to deal with the small minority of landlords who fail to meet their basic responsibilities.

The funding is part of a package of proposals to ensure that private tenants feel confident to demand better standards and management of their property by landlords

Cllr Clare Cleary, Cabinet Member for Housing, said, “We take the issue of poor housing standards very seriously. This funding from the Department for Communities and Local Government will provide a welcome boost to the work the Council already does to protect tenants, target rogue landlord’s and to also support and encourage good landlords.”
