Firms plans have now been submitted for the vacant sites along Parker Street which used to form Gaskells Carpets and Wheatfield Mill and can be seen below:
Cllr Ken Moss said, "The three of us are delighted with the plans which have been put forward as they will not only regenerate a longstanding derelict area but also give a boost to local businesses and the Council."
Cabinet member for Housing, Cllr Clare Cleary, said, "There are a lot of rumours about social tenants and houses costing over £500,000 each which is nonsense. We have all stated firmly that we don't want any more social housing and the pricing model makes them affordable for 90% of working families in Rishton. It has all been worked out very thoroughly so that it will benefit Rishton, not drag it down."
