Rishton Churches Together have organised a special carol service at The Roebuck Inn following the decision by BBC Radio Lancashire not to broadcast 'Lancashire Sings Christmas' as in previous years. The programme took the form of a carol concert which local community centres could tune in to and sing along in their own villages. In Rishton, this has taken place at The Lemon Tree and subsequently at The Roebuck Inn due to the enormous success.
Cllr Ken Moss said, "Initially it looked like we wouldn't have our concert in 2013 and then I had a word with the local clergy and churchgoers and we decided that we would simply do it ourselves. We've got a band to play the music, readings from the churches and I've even been contacted by local schools to see if they can get involved. Rishton has great community spirit about these things, it should be just as good, if not better than in previous years."
The concert starts at 7.00pm on Thursday 19th December 2013 and is open to all, with coffee and mince pies afterwards.
