PARKER STREET CLOCK FACE

One of the faces on the clock at Parker Street corner has stopped working and the Rishton Councillors have been looking at ways to resolve the problem.  Costings have been drawn up for a repair but they are considerable and outlined below:

  • New Lithium Battery Radio Mechanism x 2 at £200.00 + VAT
  • New Lithium Battery Radio Controller at £170.00 + VAT
  • Labour for two men to fit new components at £650.00 + VAT

This is the maximum potential cost for fixing the clock and engineers have stated that any components which are not required for replacement will not be charged for. However, the current Rishton Area Council budget will not cover the full cost and it is not felt to be a prudent use of village funds in any case.

The clock has therefore been rotated 90 degrees so that the remaining clock face is showing towards Hermitage Street. Although not an ideal solution it is felt to be better than trying to find a large amount of money at this time.
