FLYTIPPING PROBLEMS IN LOWER RISHTON

Over the past few weeks there has been a spate of flytipping in the back alleys behind Burton Street, Talbot Street and Hermitage Street. Despite regular cleanups from the HBC Cleansing Team, the problems persist, with new items appearing almost daily.

Eyewitness statements have been submitted to the Rishton Councillors and these have now been requested to be investigated by the enforcement officers to press for prosecutions.

Cllr Ken Moss said, "The problem has definitely got worse recently and there are a number of factors for this, not least of which the closure of the recycling centre in Great Harwood by the previous Conservative administration at LCC. I would urge all residents to point the finger if they know who is tipping, all information will be treated in strictest confidence but it is the only way to prosecute these people. Residents are reminded that HBC offer a free collection service for bulky items simply by ringing 01254 388111."
