COAL CHUTE AND IRON GATE METAL THEFTS

Three wrought iron front gates have been stolen over the past few months from houses in Rishton. Some of these gates are just hinged on the old existing hinge pegs in the gate posts and can be easily lifted off. It is probably worthwhile for residents to get their gates secured in they have one like this.

A number of the old coal chute cast iron covers have also been targeted as they are open to the rear alleyways. Most of these are already gone but one particular back alley of a Rishton Street has had almost every one taken recently.

Residents are urged to report any suspicious activity to the police by calling 101.
