Following the success of the first Rishton Charities bingo afternoon in July, one will be held monthly at the Free Gardeners Club on Parker Street from now on. Three separate funds make up the Rishton Charities: Rishton in Need, Rishton in Sickness and The George Lawes Memorial Fund. Interest on the capital in these three accounts is used to help Rishtoners who apply for help at Christmas and the fundraising bingo afternoons will pay into these accounts in rotation each month. July's event raised £30 for Rishton in Need, with August's event designated to Rishton in Sickness.
The next Rishton Charity bingo session will take place on Saturday August 10th at 2.30pm, will Cllr Ken Moss calling numbers and Cllr Clare Cleary baking fresh cakes for player. The main session of six games costs £5, with a suggested donation of £1 for the halftime refreshments. Both members and non-members of the club are welcome to come along.
