SCRAP METAL THEFTS

The local police force have been conducting an operation to clamp down on scrap metal thieves across the borough and over 40 vehicles have now been stopped and checked, with several being found unsafe or with no operator's licence. At least one has also been found to be running on red diesel which is restricted for agricultural machinery only.

There have been many incidents of theft from back yards and gardens and if anyone would like to report a van or log suspicious activity then please get in touch with either the Rishton councillors or the local police at their website and give a reasonable description of any vehicles involved, preferably with a registration number:
