Councillors Harry Grayson and Ken Moss undertook another of their regular walks around Rishton on Saturday morning and noted several issues which have now been sent to Hyndburn Borough Council for resolution:
- Harwood Road - empty property falling into disrepair at no 9
- Church Street - double yellow lines required at junction
- Howard Street - general pruning of shrubs at the park
- Stourton Street - black bin liners dumped in alleyway
- Norden View - sofa dumped by Norden Bridge
- Commerical Street - blocked storm drain
Both the litter and dog waste bins at the car park by the canal at Tottleworth Bridge were full to the point of overflowing and this too has been reported to the cleansing department.
Rishton United Football Club were playing on the sports pitches nearby and one of the things that was brought up again was the lack of changing facilities. This is not something that can be easily remedied due to the lack of funds allocated to Rishton Area Council by Peter Britcliffe (current leader of Hyndburn Borough Council) but it is something that will be addressed in the future by Harry Grayson and Ken Moss should the administration change.
One minor success story has been the clearing of a blighted site on St Pauls Road on which a garage had been burned down by vandals early this year, leaving a large pile of burned wood and broken glass. After numerous e-mails from Ken Moss and Harry Grayson and investigations into who was actually responsible for the garage it has now been cleaned up.
If you have any issues that you would like looking into or instances of fly-tipping or blighted sites then please get in touch with either Councillor Harry Grayson on 01254 889438 or Councillor Ken Moss on 01254 882797.
