Next week sees the 200th anniversary of the opening of Hyndburn's stretch of the Leeds-Liverpool Canal and to mark the occasion there is a special walk taking place on Saturday 19th June.
Peter Jepson, a Lancashire County Council ecologist will be leading the walk, pointing out the wild flowers, trees and shrubs along the way. The results will be recorded and sent off to the Lancashire Records Centre. The walk starts from Donkey Back Picnic Site at 2.30pm, but you should be able to see the historic Short Boat Kennet if you arrive at 2.15pm. The walk will take approximately two hours, but may be longer.
