Following his election win on 23rd May, Cllr Ken Moss has been promoted to the Cabinet and becomes portfolio holder for Education, Leisure and the Arts.
Ken said, "I am delighted to be given this position and look forward to seeing what we can do to move forward with our recreation facilities. The are more green spaces and public buildings than people think, I am hoping that with a bit of publicity we can raise standards and awareness for everyone in Hyndburn as to just what facilities there are available."
He added, "It's a tough economic time and in the next couple of years we're going to see the Council's government budget reduced by another 3 or 4 million pounds so it's certainly not going to be an easy job. However, our first priority is to protect frontline services and I am confident that we can maintain the standards that people expect within budget."
The Cabinet is made up of the six senior Councillors in Hyndburn and Rishton is now heavily represented, with Ken Moss and Clare Cleary, plus Miles Parkinson as Leader of the Council (and Rishton County Councillor).
