REGENERATION AND HOUSING - JANUARY 2014

At a meeting of HBC’s Regeneration and Housing Panel held on Monday 27th January 2014 an update was given to inform the Regeneration and Housing Panel of the main areas of work undertaken by the Environmental Protection Team (EPT) and the key enforcement actions undertaken from 15th November 2013 to January 2014. Cllr Harry Grayson sits on the panel and was instrumental in requesting and implementing a walkabout in Rishton with the Portfolio Holder, Cllr Clare Pritchard and the EPT team.

Cllr Grayson said, "I am delighted to announce that action has proved fruitful and that things are getting done by HBC in Rishton. Thanks to the vigilance of all the Rishton Councillors and the Portfolio Holder things are starting to improve with tidying up properties in Rishton and although we still have a long way to go, it is a start."

He added, "The introduction of Landlord Licensing has certainly played a part in moving this project forward and I urge all residents to be vigilant against dilapidated and run down properties and to call their local Councillors with any evidence of where this is happening and who is responsible. All we are trying to do is to put back the pride in Rishton."

Blog reports over the coming week will detail some of the success stories of the EPT Team within Rishton.
