Former Councillor Lesley Jackson has been presented with the Rishton Award for her services to the village. The award has not been presented for several years but it was felt that it was a good way of instilling pride back into our community and the nomination was made in 2011. However, there was only one Area Council meeting during that year and so a delayed presentation was made by Cllr Clare Cleary at the meeting on 28th June 2012 at the Conservative Club.

The 2012 Rishton Award will be presented on 18th October to Elaine Holden, Chair of The People's Centre, for her tireless community work and advance nominations for the 2013 award are welcome from residents.
