RESOURCES OVERVIEW & SCRUTINY COMMITTEE - 17th JULY 2012

The next meeting of the Resources Overview & Scrutiny Committee meets on Tuesday 17th July at 10.00am at Scaitcliffe House in Accrington. Cllr Ken Moss (chair) is joined by Cllr Clare Cleary who was appointed to the committee in May 2012 and topics for discussion at the meeting include:

• Resources Management in Planning and Transportation
• Review of Council Land Assets

Both of these items are likely to involve lengthy debates and take some time beyond this meeting to resolve but are ultimately being looked at in order to save Hyndburn Borough Council a lot of money and try to ensure that no services have to be cut or council tax bills need to rise. Currently, all Labour Councillors are submitting ideas for cost-cutting exercises as the government is reducing the amount of money that Hyndburn gets year on year by millions of pounds, something which is likely to continue until at least 2017.
