Rishton County Councillor Miles Parkinson has once again been selected to represent the village in the Lancashire County Council elections in May 2013. Miles was elected in 2009 and is the county voice for Rishton, Altham and Clayton-le-Moors at County Hall in Preston. Cllr Parkinson is also Leader of Hyndburn Borough Council and portfolio holder for Planning and Transportation.
None of the three Rishton ward seats will be contested next year. The next Rishton local election will be in 2014 for the seat currently held by Cllr Ken Moss.
