The monthly meeting of the Rishton Neighbourhood Action Group took place at The People's Centre on Thursday 24th February. The group is chaired by Wendy Singleton with Cllr Ken Moss as vice-chair, the remainder being invited members who represent various areas and groups within the village. Topics being discussed at the meeting included the final placements of the new Rishton Remembered plaques, dates for group walkabouts and also an application to Small Sparks for funding to continue other projects. Steve Watson, administrator of the group from HBC, also mentioned that he had managed to arrange repainting of the misplaced apostrophe on The People's Centre sign, something which has been a minor bugbear to residents since the sign was first installed.
The Rishton Festival committee also held a coffee morning at the venue on Saturday 26th February and raised just short of £200 for this year's celebration on 2nd July. Freshly baked cakes, hand knitted items and books were on sale with Clare Cleary helping out the ladies in the kitchen making tea and coffee.
Malcolm Ward is chairman of the Rishton Festival committee and is actively seeking participants for this year's events. If you would like to run a stall, take part in events or promote your own group or business with a float or stand then get in touch with Malcolm on 07801056945.
