Cllrs Harry Grayson and Ken Moss have spent a few hours walking around the village noting problems which require attention by Hyndburn Borough Council and reports have now been sent:
- Spring Street - flytipping and rats from No 23
- Spring Street - unsightly back yard at No 59
- Spring Street - flytipping at top car park
- Parker Street - structural damage on end terrace
- Holt Street - unsafe railings on recreation ground
- Holt Street - unsecured bin with graffiti
- Chapel Street - flytipping in back alleyway
- Talbot Street - unsafe steps and wall in back alleyway
- Talbot Street - regular flytipping from No 12
- George Street - flytipping in back alleyway
- Albert Street - flytipping in back alleyway
- Albert Street - missing draincover in side alleyway
- Edward Street - flytipping in back alleyway
- High Street - flytipping behind Mini Market
- Shuttleworth Street - flytipping in back alleyway
The house next to St Peter & St Paul's Church has large trees and overgrown foliage which is now impacting on residents on Westwood Avenue. Complaints were lodged with the councillors and this situation will now be investigated by the council.
Many complaints have also been received regarding the number of parked cars at the top of Walmsley Street so Ken Moss and Harry Grayson have been to speak to the people responsible. Safety concerns have been raised by residents over a lack of fire tender access and fuel left in the cars. Assurances have been made that the area will be cleared within the next 7-10 days and the councillors have stated that no further action will be taken within the next fortnight if this is carried out as promised.
