Graham Jones MP has received a reply from Royal Mail regarding the post box over the bridge and it has been confirmed by the Senior Customer Service Advisor in London that there will not be a replacement pillar installed in lower Rishton. The reasons given echo those previously given by the local postal service, namely that there are ample facilities already within Rishton and that there were only 6 items per day on average in the wall-mounted box.
Cllrs Ken Moss and Harry Grayson will now write to the Postal Review Panel to try and overturn the decision by requesting that someone walks from the end of Talbot Street to post a letter and find out how '300 metres' feels. Clare Cleary also suggested at the councillors' surgery on 27th November that with the money saved by abandoning the bus shelter project we could ask for a new box with those funds.
