RISHTON SURGERY - 12th OCTOBER 2010

Cllrs Harry Grayson and Ken Moss will be holding a special surgery on Tuesday 12th October at 7.00pm in the Rishton Free Gardeners' Club on Parker Street to discuss the current situation regarding the post box in lower Rishton.  The box was removed by Royal Mail in late 2009 after renovations started on the building at the corner of James Street and a decision was made some time later not to replace it as the Post Office is only a quarter of a mile away.  The lack of a replacement pillar has angered many residents (including Mrs Hocking, 95, pictured above) who cannot walk uphill to the nearest collection post.

Several letters from the councillors and residents, plus a 400+ signed petition were all sent to Royal Mail to get the decision reversed but as yet there has been no direct response.  The collections manager has been invited to the meeting to answer questions in a public forum.

All residents with an interest are urged to attend and show public support for the campaign.  If anyone wishes to get in touch beforehand you can ring Ken Moss on 882797 or Harry Grayson on 889438.
