COUNCILLORS PROMOTE RISHTON FESTIVAL 2018

On Saturday 7th July we will be holding the 15th annual Rishton Festival. In recognition of the 100 year Armistice anniversary we have adopted a World War One theme. The Festival will be a commemorative and educational event, but also a celebration of peace.

Cllr Jeff Scales said, "Community groups will be encouraged to research the names on Rishton's Cenotaph and to develop their overall understanding of World War One. They will record information about the war on painted silk banners. They will also make a poppy on a willow frame that will include the name of the Tommy in its centre. The banners and 186 poppies will be carried by the groups in the festival parade with participants in WW1 themed costumes."

In support of this project, the Festival Committee have applied to Tesco Bags for Life funding programme and our project 'World War 1 @ BB1' is now up for a public vote in the Great Harwood and Colne branches of Tesco.

Please support the Festival this year by popping along to Tesco and voting for us!
