HYDROELECTRIC SCHEME APPROVED

**NOTE - THIS WAS AN APRIL FOOLS DAY POSTING**

A new hydroelectric scheme, the first of its kind in Hyndburn, has been approved by the Council. Generating machinery will be installed at the waterfall by Rishton Paper Mill which has lain derelict for some years.

Cabinet member for Energy, Cllr George Parr, said, "These new 'lateral balance cones' are a revolutionary design and have the potential to generate up to one-sixth of Rishton's power by 2030. We are proud to announce this as part of our Invest to Save scheme which should save tens of thousands of pounds over the next decade."

Cabinet approved a capital overspend of £850,000 for the new generators and construction will start after the May elections.
