CLEAN FOR THE QUEEN WEEKEND

In order to mark the Queen's 90th birthday, a national 'Clean for the Queen' weekend is taking place between 4th - 6th March.

Rishton Prospects have organised a litter pick along the canal towpath on Saturday 5th March and all volunteers will be welcome. The team will meet at High Street bridge at 9.30am and litter picking equipment will be provided.

Norden High School's Green Team will be litter picking the surrounding streets before moving on to the picnic site and sports pitches by the canal.

Cllr Ken Moss said, "In days gone by people would scrub the flags in front of their house but we seem to have lost that sense of pride. This is a good excuse to have a spring clean, even if it's just picking up a few bits litter in your street. I'll be doing my bit and thanks to all the volunteers who will be taking part to make Rishton a cleaner place."
