RISHTON FESTIVAL COMMITTEE - 24th FEBRUARY 2016

The next meeting of the Rishton Festival Committee will take place on Wednedsay 24th February at 6.30pm in the Conservative Club on Cliff Street.

The committee has recently undergone a restructure due to long-serving members Christine Hammerton and Malcolm Ward stepping down from executive roles. These roles have now been filled by Cllr Clare Cleary and Cllr Ken Moss who have taken over as Chair and Treasurer respectively.

Cllr Moss said, "The Councillors have had to step in because otherwise there would be no Festival this year. Christine and Malcolm have done a great job over the past 10 years but it involves a lot of work and they both want to step down. However, I'm pleased to say that they will both still be on board to help us out and we're very grateful."

Labour 2016 candidate, Jeff Scales, has also joined the committee and brings with him a wealth of fundraising expertise.

Jeff said, "The Festival is a brilliant annual event but it takes a lot of money to keep it going so I want to help make sure that it remains a regular event on the Rishton calendar."

All residents are invited to attend and new members are welcome.
