CHANGES TO 14/14b BUS SERVICE

County Councillor Miles Parkinson has been asked about the impact on bus services as the 14/14b route is set to be stopped following government cutbacks.

Cllr Parkinson said, "I am aware of the changes to the 14/14b service in Rishton and have had a meeting on the issue of bus subsidies with Pilkington Buses. Across Lancashire 85% of services do not receive a subsidy and will not be affected but 15% do and these are the unprofitable routes which provide that community link to communities they serve. However, Pilkington's have informed me that they intend to take over the 14 service and that there is a service at termination in Blackburn bus station to carry on to the Hospital as the 14b service provided."
