NORDEN PUPIL TO OPEN RISHTON CHRISTMAS FAIR

Norden High School pupil, Chelsea Savoini, is to open the first ever Rishton Christmas Fair at 5.30pm on Friday 4th December 2015 at the Library car park.

The Switch On Rishton committee held a competition for local schoolchildren to design a logo for their group earlier this year and the final design ended up being a conglomeration of the ideas sent in. However, everyone agreed that Chelsea's picture was the overall winner and she was asked to open the fair as a thank you by the committee.

The Switch On Rishton team are an independent self-sustaining group who are looking to increase the number of festive lights in the village. By fundraising and hosting events they have raised enough money to install over 40 Christmas trees for December 2015.

Cllr Ken Moss said, "The three Rishton Councillors have only been very peripherally involved by supplying collection tubs and sorting out paperwork issues for the group. The event and the Christmas trees are entirely their own work and we are 100% in support. Some people are saying that somehow we are getting our hands on the money but it's completely untrue. This is simply a fine example of residents pulling together to do something really fantastic for everyone."
