The BBC Trust has launched a second public consultation on proposals from BBC management
to close BBC Three as a broadcast channel and reinvent it online; launch
a BBC One +1 channel; evolve BBC iPlayer; and extend the hours of CBBC.
Cabinet Member for Education, Leisure and The Arts, Cllr Ken Moss,
said, "I am extremely passionate about the BBC. It is one of the
cornerstones of Great Britain and it shapes our media in a way unlike
any other country. It is the biggest broadcaster on the planet and sets
the benchmark for how others create their output. I feel that the
licence fee is far more important than people think so consultations
like this are an excellent way of making sure that money is well spent."
