RISHTON BRAIN CANCER FUNDRAISING - IAN WALSH

A group of Rishton residents are currently fundraising for Brain Cancer Research following the diagnosis of Ian Walsh with a grade 4 inoperable tumour. Ian has recently completed a six-week radiotherapy course and is shortly to start chemotherapy which has seen his tumour go into remission but his family and friends are now keen to raise money and awareness for charity.

Ian's partner, Glenda Carter, said, "Cancer Research can only donate 1% of funds towards brain cancer so we are specifically raising money for that type of cancer. Radiotherapy keeps working for three to four weeks after treatment finishes but one person can only have six weeks of treatment in their entire life so we feel it is important to find out more about it."

She added, "We have already raised £600 from 'Wear A Hat Day' and Dave Lees has agreed to have the beer festival weekend in June as a joint fundraiser for Brain Cancer Research."

Paul Bradley and Johnny Burrows will also be doing a sponsored 70 mile bike ride from the Liver Buildings back to Rishton on 20th June and sponsor forms can be found in the Conservative Club or by phoning Paul directly on 07872628487. A Just Giving page has also been set up and can be found here:
