RISHTON AWARD 2014

Rishton resident Ruth Colling was presented with the Rishton Award at the annual Lancashire Sings Christmas event in The Roebuck Inn on 18th December. The certificate is awarded annually by the local Councillors to a member of the community who has given their free time to make Rishton a better place.

Ruth was nominated for her work with Churches Together, Prospects Foundation and the Rishton Festival. She has given many hours of her own time over several years to organise events and raise money for various local charitable causes.

She said, "It's not just me who organises these events of course so we should really give a round of applause to everyone involved. I really don't know why I have won this award but it is very nice all the same!"

Nominations for the 2015 award can be submitted to the Rishton Councillors via Cllr Ken Moss at ken.moss@hyndburnbc.gov.uk and residents are invited to nominate someone who they feel has given exceptional service to the local community.
