The 2nd Rishton Brownies started back after the summer break on 9th September and their group is always open to new members. Girls aged between 7 and 10 can join and the 2nd Rishton Brownies meet every Tuesday at 7.00pm in the Methodist Church on Albert Street. Subs are £2.50 each week and this pays for insurance and activity material for the unpaid volunteers.
Kate Hummer, a former Brownie, now helps to run the group with Kathleen Weemes. She said, "It's something I enjoyed being part of until I was 16 and I just carried on. The girls all enjoy it too and I ended up as Leader of the pack at 20 but the biggest problem we face is lack of adult help. We would love for more people to volunteer because if we didn't do it then it would be one less activity for all these girls."
The 2nd Rishton Brownies can be contacted by emailing rishtonmethodistbrownies@outlook.com and parents can put their girls on the waiting list to be accepted into the group by registering at www.girlguiding.org.uk/joinus
