Labour Councillor Munsif Dad was invested as Mayor of Hyndburn in a special full Council meeting on Saturday 24th May.
Cllrs Ken Moss and Clare Cleary (pictured here with her husband, Danny) were present for the ceremony and attended a special dinner at Accrington Town Hall to welcome Munsif into the role and authentic Asian meals were on offer in a departure from the usual purely English menu.
Mayors serve one year in office and the post alternates between political parties, this year being the turn of the Labour group. Outgoing Mayor Judith Addison is replaced by Cllr Dad, with Cllr Marlene Haworth from the Conservative group assuming the mantle of Deputy Mayor. This too is a one-year tenure in preparation for full Mayorality the following year.
The Rishton Councillors would like to pay tribute to Cllr Addison for a wonderful year as Mayor and attending so many Rishton engagements.
