One of the trees at The Turrets public garden on Blackburn Road was showing signs of internal decay and was removed earlier this year. Two tree operatives visited the site and found a split in the larger of the two stumps which allowed the tree to be physically moved three feet in either direction.
Complaints were received from residents who felt that the tree was removed at the request of one of the neighbouring properties but this had no bearing whatsoever on the decision to remove the tree.
The loose railings adjacent to the tree were also reported to the Property Services department for attention.
