Rishton Area Council last year made a donation of £200 to Hyndburn Homewise to help with security arrangements for older people in the village. Homewise is a charitable organisation which provides an amount of free labour to fit security devices as well as many other services, with customers simply paying for materials. The £200 grant means that a certain amount of free security equipment is available to residents and in Rishton only three households have made use of the grant. Homewise have therefore requested that the service is promoted by local Councillors to help elderly residents to feel safe over the winter.
Sue Sinclair from Homewise said, "There are still a couple of wards that have not used any of their grant and the rest still have resources left. As winter and Christmas is fast approaching, it is important to make sure our vulnerable older people are safe and secure."
