Cllr Harry Grayson took part in a candlelit vigil at the Accrington Victoria walk-in centre on 9th November as part of a Labour group campaign to save the service in its current form.
An extraordinary meeting of the full Council took place on 14th November where questions were put to senior health officials regarding the centre and what is being done to address the issues that have led to threats of reduced services. Six options were presented to full Council by the health authority but the only one considered acceptable was retention of the service as it is now.
A discussion by the health authorities is due to take place on 25th November to make a formal decision although it was intimated that a final decision on that date now looks unlikely as a result of comments made by Councillors.
