It has been announced that the BBC Radio Lancashire programme 'Lancashire Sings Christmas' is not being produced this year and there are no plans for the radio to do a broadcast of any kind. The live programme has been running for several years and has been very successful in getting community groups to meet at venues across Lancashire to listen together and sing along to the broadcast service. Rishton Churches Together has spoken with a number of different people decided to do it themselves!
Cllr Ken Moss has volunteered to organise music, a microphone and carol sheets and spoken with Sarah Williamson from The Roebuck Inn who is happy for revellers to use the pub as in previous years. Carols are planned to be interspersed with Christmas readings and poems and it is hoped that mince pies will also be available.
The date of 'transmission' is Thursday 19th December between 7.00pm and 8.00pm.
