Following various incidents of poor horseriding technique around Rishton by a handful of riders, a special road safety course is being held at Barkers Farm on Churchill Avenue on Sunday 25th August. The course will run from 10.00am until 1.00pm and it is hoped that it will make riders more aware of their responsibilities and how to ride safely on the public highways.
Local resident, Vicki Norman, is working with yard owners, Judith and John Barker, to organise the course. She said, "At the moment we are only opening this to residents with horses stabled at Barkers, but if it is successful then I hope we will be able to do a more public event somewhere and involve the local police to increase awareness of the rules of the road."
