A full-scale review of all the dog waste bins has just been conducted across Hyndburn and the Rishton Councillors were consulted regarding where they felt that new bins were required. The Esplanade in particular was poorly served by both dog and standard litter bins and these have now been installed as this is not only a dog-walking route but there was previously nowhere for residents to get rid of their litter as they sat in the gardens or waited at the bus stops.
Cllr Ken Moss, who has championed a crackdown on dog fouling, said, "The Labour group at Hyndburn Borough Council have channelled £23,000 into extra resources by making savings elsewhere and it is being invested in a sensible capital project. The Rishton Councillors have been listened to and within a few weeks we have got new bins where we need them. This is great news for Hyndburn and one step closer to cleaner streets."
Other bins are expected around the village very soon in addition to the ones already in place.
