The Rishton Cenotaph is to be given a full makeover ahead of Armed Forces Day on 29th June 2013. Cllr Harry Grayson has undertaken a detailed examination of the structure and suggested various improvements in order to bring the monument back up to standard.
The paintwork, masonry and pointing have all fallen into a state of disrepair and remedial work has been suggested in order to prevent lasting damage.
At a meeting on Monday evening, the three Rishton Councillors agreed that this should go ahead immediately so as to be in time for Armed Forces Day next month. Two new flagpoles have already been ordered and will be installed shortly.
