THE QUEEN VISITS ACCRINGTON

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II visited Accrington yesterday with Prince Philip as part of their Jubilee tour. The royal party arrived at the Town Hall after 2.00pm to meet senior members of the council and officials (including Cllr Harry Grayson, who spoke to both the Queen and Prince Philip) before proceeding to the Market Hall to unveil the Accrington Coat of Arms. The streets of Accrington were filled with members of the public and there was a definite atmosphere of strong civic pride to welcome the most senior members of the Royal family.
