Saturday 2nd July will see the annual Rishton Festival which starts at 10.00am outside The Rishton Arms on Station Road. The procession of floats and groups to Norden High School will be headed by the Haslingden & Helmshore Brass Band who will also be giving a short concert later in the morning at 11.30am. The event will be officially opened by Cllr Colette McCormack, the Mayor of Hyndburn.
Various local groups have confirmed their attendance and these include:
- Prospects
- Rishton Utd Football Club
- Police
- Friends of Rishton Youth
- Rishton Horticultural Society
There is also intended to be a flypast by the Air Ambulance later in the day plus various other representatives and attractions. The festival in 2010 focussed on the early 1900s and the theme for this year is characters from film, television and books with fancy dress being encouraged by all.
