RISHTON LIBRARY

Rumours have been circulating within Rishton regarding the fate of the library after it was revealed that some of the staff will be leaving in the near future.  The Rishton councillors contacted the Area Manager of the Lancashire Library Service and a statement has been issued on behalf of Lancashire County Council:

'I can confirm that there are currently no plans to close Rishton Library. As you will be aware Lancashire County Council has to make savings of £179million in the next three years and the Library Service has a share of that saving to make. However unlike many library services throughout the country we are fortunate in that we are closing none of our libraries. We will in due course be appointing a new branch manager to Rishton Library and replacing the frontline library assistant hours there. I hope this will enable you to counteract the false rumours that are circulating.'
