WALKABOUT - 31st JULY 2010

Cllr Harry Grayson undertook a walkabout on 31st July and noted a couple of problems which have now been reported for Hyndburn Borough Council to resolve:
  • Burton Street - fly-tipping and settee in back alleyway
  • Clarke Street - black bin liners full of rubbish in back alleyway
Other matters which have been ongoing for some time are now in the process of resolution, including the complete renovation of 14 Shuttleworth Street following bad tenants and vandalism and the dredging of the canal (with thanks to Paul Wilkinson for his information).

Rishton Area Council has sent a follow-up letter requesting a decision from Royal Mail on a replacement post box for lower Rishton although as yet no response has been received.

Replacement of the bus shelter opposite the war memorial recently destroyed by a car accident is pending an insurance payout to Lancashire County Council which County Cllr Miles Parkinson is overseeing.  A similar situation exists at the zebra crossing opposite The Roebuck where a speeding car crashed through the beacon and bollards in July.
