LETTER TO THE OBSERVER - 15th APRIL 2016

I see Nick Whittaker is at it again (Accrington Observer, 09/04/16), spouting off more now than he ever did during four silent years of a totally unaccountable term as Huncoat Councillor.

Whenever there is a scheme that will be really positive for the wider community you pop up with some recently-formed group to put a stop to it, citing that it is undemocratic or that there should be a costly consultation over every last thing. You campaigned to stop the War Memorial being made more easily accessible for the disabled and infirm, made all sort of promises about what your new group was going to do for the rec and then promptly disappeared when you lost the election.

I've heard your name linked to objections to new play facilities being installed at Bolton Avenue, a new cycle path at the cemetery and now you and your old mate Peter Britcliffe are on the trail in Oswaldtwistle trying to derail a £2m project in Rhyddings Park (why this concerns you in Huncoat I have no idea).

What is it that you actually want, Nick? What have you actually improved for the people of Huncoat? You and the Tories jump on any old populist bandwagon close to an election but you don't offer up new ideas, merely objections to any form of change whatsoever.

Huncoat Utd have just come to me with a really positive idea for the local footy teams - are you going to object to that as well?

Cllr Ken Moss
Cabinet Member for Education, Leisure and The Arts
