PACT - 8th JANUARY 2014

The latest meeting of Rishton Police and Communities Together (PACT) took place on 8th January 2014 to discuss crime issues within the village. Councillors Clare Cleary, Miles Parkinson and Ken Moss were in attendance and the main ongoing areas of concern were again identified as metal and stone thefts. Antisocial behaviour and drug issues have also been dealt with and resolved over the past month.

Residents with concerns should contact the Rishton Councillors if they wish it to be discussed at each monthly PACT meeting, or ideally phone 101 to report crimes directly to the local police. One area of concern from the police is that crimes are not being reported to 101 but are instead posted on Facebook which is leading to many people believing that the system does not work.

Cllr Ken Moss said, "We have a good system in place and from experience I can say that it does work well when people actually use it. It is not an emergency response number which is where residents may have become disillusioned in the past but the simple fact is that if people do not report crimes or leave it to someone else to phone things in then the police will be unaware that there is a specific problem. Please use 101, it is the best way to get in touch with the police."

Hyndburn Police have their own Facebook page which can be found here:

A web page also exists for the Rishton officers:
