FULL COUNCIL MEETING - 9th MARCH 2011

The last meeting of the full council prior to the local elections will take place on Wednesday 9th March at 7.00pm in Accrington Town Hall.  This is a public meeting and residents are free to come and watch proceedings in the gallery above the council chamber.

Cllr Harry Grayson will be asking questions regarding money owed to Rishton that was allocated for a calendar which was not printed and why public money is being handed out in the village ahead of polling day from the Conservatives and not the Rishton Council as a whole.  A further question is tabled regarding councillors claiming thousands of pounds in annual expenses for committees which have not convened since 2004.

Cllr Ken Moss has also been tabled a motion about Rishton's postcode status, requesting that the council intervenes with Royal Mail to reclassify the BB1 areas of Hyndburn and prevent our insurance claims from being altered by 'crash for cash' scams in Blackburn. A second motion is tabled to abolish the £4,000 of public money spent each year by the Leader of the Council on sandwiches for meetings.
