Cllrs Harry Grayson and Ken Moss have been looking at ways in which Rishton can celebrate St George's Day on an annual basis and have decided to issue the Rishton Award to a prominent resident on 23rd April with the intention of making it a yearly event. Previous winners have included the late Jim Clarke (pictured) in 2001 and lollipop lady Dorothy Miller in 2007 for their services to the local community but it has not been issued for some years.
Nominations must be received in writing or by e-mail by 31st March and suggestions can be sent to the Rishton Area Council at the following addresses:
