The Rishton branch of Prospects formed a working group on Saturday 5th February to tidy up the flower beds and seating area just beneath the canal bridge on High Street. Colin Cooper, Margaret Worden and Patrick Troughton were joined by councillors Harry Grayson and Ken Moss and the team spent several hours cutting back shrubbery, turning borders and litter picking.
Prospects organise several such working parties each year, with the next one scheduled for 5th March at Cutwood Park for a general tidy up and the installation of bird nesting boxes.
The group hold monthly meetings at The People's Centre on School Street and they are open to anyone with an interest in the environmental aspects of Rishton. The next meeting is on 1st March at 7.00pm.
